While I can certainly enjoy the occasional deviled egg with mayo, I wanted to make a healthy deviled egg without mayonnaise that would still work for those wanting to stay low carb or eat a ketogenic diet.
Avocado Deviled Eggs
Of course, we also wanted to keep the deviled eggs creamy and delicious, so we decided to go for a different fat source: avocado! Making these deviled eggs with avocado instead of mayo still gives that rich, creamy texture but provides us a different flavor and, in my opinion at least, makes them a little healthier too.
Though they’re green, avocados are fruits, and they’re loaded with health benefits. Largely composed of good fats, avocados are also packed with vitamins and minerals and contain fiber as well. The combination of fat and fiber can prove very helpful, as it often leads to greater satiation, meaning you’ll feel fuller longer.
Knowing that avocado and everything bagel seasoning go together splendidly, we wanted to combine them once again here with these avocado everything bagel deviled eggs. We not only top the avocado deviled eggs with the everything bagel seasoning, but we also mix a generous amount into the filling itself.
Make sure your avocados are ripe and mashable (like you’d want for guacamole). Avoid avocados already browning on the inside or avocados too hard to mash for these avocado everything deviled egg appetizers.
Choose your Everything Bagel Seasoning Wisely!
Everyone has their own everything bagel seasoning now, from online recipes to commercially available brands, and they range in ingredients, ratios, and salt content. Some commercial products have far more salt than others, and since we use a decent amount of seasoning in these avocado everything deviled eggs, we recommend sticking to a lower salt variety.
Of course, we think you should just make our version, which has less salt than many as well as a unique twist! We had to put our own spin on the seasoning mixture, so we created a slightly spicy, low-salt, Everything Bagel Seasoning With a Kick, which has chile flakes for a little heat and smoky flavor as well as a LOT less salt than many commercially available brands. This is what we used in our recipe, and we think you’ll love it too!
It only takes a minute to make, and we highly recommend keeping this on hand, as you’ll find numerous uses for it in your kitchen. This way you can also control the salt level. However, if you don’t feel like making the seasoning yourself, the Trader Joe brand is always a popular one.
Because ours has a lot less salt, we actually add in a little more for the avocado deviled eggs; however, if you’re using a recipe with a larger salt to other ingredients ratio or a store-bought brand, we recommend omitting the extra salt at first. Then add that option ½ tsp salt in slowly, if necessary, to reach desired flavor.
Prep, Storage, Serving of Avocado Everything Bagel Deviled Eggs
Due to the nature of both eggs and avocado, you don’t want to make these keto deviled eggs with avocado and everything bagel seasoning much in advance. The lemon juice does help keep the green color of the avocado, but eggs and avocados are just best fresh; this is still true when combined as avocado deviled eggs.
You can, however, hard boil your eggs in advance, if you’d like; this can save quite a bit of time in preparation. You can even take it a step further, if you’re really strapped for time by purchasing hard-boiled eggs already peeled. This seriously scales back your time, though they are more expensive to purchase than standard eggs.
There are many options for deviled egg serving dishes these days. You can find the one pictured in our recipe here, but there are also some really nice cooling trays for deviled eggs that keep the eggs chilled and would be fantastic for a summer BBQ or longer party where people will be grazing by the buffet for a while.
Perfect for a Party!

Parties can be tricky if attendees have a variety of dietary preferences. Ingredients
Scale
12 eggs
1 Large Hass Avocado
2 Tbsp unsweetened plain greek yogurt or unsweetened plain non-dairy yogurt (we use forager cashew yogurt or SO Coconut Yogurt)
½ tsp salt, optional, if using a low-salt everything bagel seasoning like ours – otherwise, omit this or add gradually after tasting filling!
Instructions
To Hard Boil the Eggs:
Place 12 eggs in a pot and cover by at least 2” of water. Add in ½ tsp salt to make peeling a little easier.
Heat on high to rolling boil. Turn off heat, cover, and let the pot sit on the burner for 10-12 minutes.
Strain and run cold water over eggs, or place them in an ice bath to keep from cooking further. Allow to cool.
Peel the eggs while slightly warm (it’s easier to peel this way).
To Make the Avocado Everything Bagel Deviled Eggs:
Cut eggs in half. Scoop out egg yolks and combine yolks in a bowl with avocado, yogurt, everything bagel seasoning, and lemon juice.
Add the ½ tsp of salt IF NEEDED (our seasoning mix has less salt, so we add a bit more here to make everything pop; however, start without this extra salt if you’re using another version of everything but the bagel seasoning). Add salt in small amounts if needed until desired saltiness is achieved.
If the mixture seems especially thick, add a little bit of yogurt to thin it slightly.
Place the filling mixture in a plastic bag, pressing it towards one corner of the bag and doing your best to remove excess air as you seal it.
Cut that corner of the plastic bag, and use it to pipe the mixture into the egg halves.
Top deviled eggs with more everything bagel seasoning.
Avocado Everything bagel deviled eggs are absolutely best fresh, but you can store leftovers in the fridge for 1-2 days.
