Board Game Days and a Mango Jalapeno Salsa
We love getting together with friends or family to play board/card games. Our idea of a great weekend evening is sitting around the table enjoying the next new cool game or revisiting a tried-and-true classic (if you need recommendations for new games for your board game group, we’ve got plenty for you!). Within our group we’ve amassed quite the collection, ranging from quick 20 minute word games to legacy games that will take 4+ hours to play and change each time you play them. It’s not uncommon for us to meet up for brunch together and then to spend the rest of the day playing.
During these marathon game days, we inevitably need snacks to keep us fueled for battle. I’ve slowly gotten all of my friends, family members, and coworkers addicted to my salsa, so this is usually what I end up bringing (they never seem to complain). It’s fast to put together, goes with a lot of different foods, and is easy to munch on while playing games (because who would want to actually stop gaming to eat?).
This mango jalapeno salsa features one of my favorite combinations in food: sweet and spicy. The fresh mango gives a wonderful brightness and sweetness that’s followed at the end by a delicious warmth and spice from the jalapenos. It goes great on tacos, paired with savory breakfasts like burritos or huevos rancheros, or on its own with a bowl of chips. Whip up a batch of this mango jalapeno salsa for your next get-together, party, or just to enjoy throughout the week!
Making this mango jalapeno salsa in a food processor couldn’t be easier; just dump the ingredients in and pulse until it’s combined, giving me a wonderful chunky consistency. We love our Black and Decker Food Processor and have pretty much run it into the ground over the years. Make sure you have at least an 8-cup version for this recipe (I wish we had a larger one so I could make bigger batches of salsa!).
Ever have trouble getting the seeds or membranes out of jalapenos? This Jalapeno Pepper Corer will save your life! It’ll cut tops off of the peppers as well as coring out the seeds and membranes, letting you spend less time prepping and more time enjoying this delicious salsa! Make sure to use Food Prep Gloves to protect your skin from painful chile oil.
Try this fresh and easy homemade mango jalapeño salsa recipe for a quick and healthy snack idea! Perfect for a party, for work, or anytime! To make it kid friendly, omit or reduce (and seed!) the amount of jalapeños!
Ingredients
Scale
28oz can whole tomatoes
1 medium onion, quartered
5 jalapenos, seeded and membranes removed if desired (I usually seed 2 of the 5)
1 bunch cilantro, stems removed
4 cloves garlic
1 1/2 Cup mango, roughly chopped
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp chile powder
1 Tbsp paprika
juice from 1/4 of a lime
Instructions
Add all ingredients into a food processor.
Pulse until combined and the salsa reaches desired consistency.
Enjoy!
Notes
Make sure to use gloves when handling chiles to avoid getting the oils on your skin.
Keep leftover salsa in a sealed container in the fridge for about 7 days (my batches usually are gone long before this time).
This is a fresh salsa recipe and is not an approved canning recipe.

I made two batches of your salsa after having a taste first. My question is, “D o you have to refrigerate the salsa after it is made”? I put the salsa in jars. Please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you so much for this delicious salsa
We’re so glad you like the salsa! And yes, the salsa will need to be refrigerated after it is made. We would like to be able to can our salsas to make them shelf stable but as of now this is not an approved canning recipe. Enjoy!
Hey,
I don’t recommend freezing the salsa as the consistency of the salsa tends to not hold up well to being frozen and thawed. It’s definitely a salsa that is best enjoyed fresh.

How much cilantro is in each bunch that you use ?
Our bunches tend to be about 1 C, packed, including stems. However, you can adjust this easily for your preferences!
Can you freeze this mango salsa?
