I sit here writing this post at the tail end of summer break, and I find myself wondering where the time went. It seemed like just the other day I was saying goodbye to my students in late May and wishing them a fantastic summer, and now we’re gearing up to head back for another school year. I’m excited for another school year to get underway, but I also find myself wanting perhaps just a few more days to sleep in or just one or two more lazy mornings with a cup of coffee.

As always we had grand plans for the summer and many of them didn’t get finished (some didn’t even get started). We spent many great moments this hanging out with friends and family and took some much needed us time. During the school year and with our work schedules, quality time together can be at a premium, so we are going into this school year wanting to make sure we remember what’s important and make sure to have our priorities in line with what we truly want and what makes us happy.

Here at Our Sweetly Spiced Life we want to have simple, delicious, healthy meals that will leave us energized and feeling good. We want to have great recipes that won’t require hours in the kitchen and won’t leave us feeling icky or weighed down. We focus on nutritious foods, great taste, and simplicity. We hope to bring all of this to you because we know you can appreciate meals that are big on flavor but not on time or complexity.

This recipe features basic ingredients that we almost always have on hand here at home. If you’re a fellow smoothie lover, you likely have a lot of this as well. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Goji Berries, you need to try these today! These superfoods are packed with flavor and have great nutrients. For this Tropical Dreamsicle Twist, we blend goji berries with pineapple, oranges, banana, and nut milk (we prefer So Delicious’ Coconut Milk that comes in a carton, but Almond milk works as well) for a fantastic morning boost. Tropical Orange Creamsicle Smoothie (Tropical Dreamsicle Twist)
Serves 2
A tropical, healthy twist on the classic orange creamsicle flavors!

Ingredients
  1. 3 large navel oranges, peeled
  2. 2 C frozen pineapple
  3. 1 medium banana, peeled
  4. 2 Tbsp goji berries
  5. 1 C Unsweetened Vanilla Coconut Milk (in the carton, such as SO Delicious Coconut Milk)
Instructions
  1. Blend and enjoy!
Notes
  1. If you don't have a high-speed blender, you may want to soak the goji berries before blending. We recommend prepping the smoothie in the blender, with the goji berries covered by the nut milk, and leaving it in the fridge overnight!
  2. While coconut milk from a can would work in this smoothie, we highly recommend going for a coconut milk from the carton, such as from SO Delicious. This is also tasty with unsweetened vanilla almond milk if you'd rather go that route.
