Simple Banana Nut Butter Breakfast Toasts
Breakfast food. Isn’t it wonderful? It’s probably my favorite meal of the day (I think I’d eat it for every meal if I could). We here at Our Sweetly Spiced Life are always looking for new breakfast/brunch places in the area or new healthy breakfast recipes to try. We end up doing a lot of smoothies during the week with our busy schedules, but we’re ready for something different on the weekends. We discovered an incredible new breakfast recipe the other day when I was home from school on a snow day (one of many so far).
These Banana Nut Butter Breakfast Toasts are a new favorite of ours for healthy, decadent AM meals. They go together in a matter of minutes, use only 6 ingredients, and feel like a real treat without having to feel guilty about what you’re putting into your body. You get good, healthy fats and proteins, as well as fruit, oils, and more with this simple breakfast recipe, so they’ll last you all morning. Most of these ingredients are staples, so no need to make a lengthy list of ingredients to pick up at the store. Throw these together for a lazy morning brunch with the family or impress your friends with a delicious sweet breakfast (they don’t have to know how easy they are!). Or make these up to fuel you before a workout or a day of projects around the house. They’re easy enough to make during the week or for a quick on the go meal, too!
These simple, incredible breakfast toasts are vegetarian, vegan, and dairy free. They can easily be adjusted for nut allergies (just use sunflower butter). You won’t find an easier recipe; just toast up some bread, mix up a simple chocolate sauce (this could even be made ahead of time), and then assemble. So let’s get to it!

2 Tbsp maple syrup
1 Tbsp cacao powder
A heaping ¼ C to ⅓ C almond butter
4 slices of quality bread
1 banana, sliced
1 ½ tsp. Hemp seeds
Mix maple syrup and cacao powder together in a small bowl to make chocolate sauce.
Assemble toasts by spreading almond butter on toast, then topping with sliced bananas. Drizzle chocolate sauce over the top and sprinkle hemp hearts on to finish.
This recipe works great with any nut or seed butter; Perfect for those of you who love peanut butter and chocolate together!
