Ingredients

- 1 Large red apple (we recommend gala or fuji)
- 2 ½ Cups water
- 1 Tbsp cinnamon
- 1 Cup rolled oats
- Pinch of salt
- 1 ½ Tbsp maple syrup, plus more optionally for serving
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Almond milk, optional, for serving
- Cinnamon and sugar, optional, for serving
Instructions
- Add water to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Finely chop your apple and add to water, along with ½ Tbsp of the cinnamon
- Bring the saucepan to boil. Cook at low boil for 5 minutes.
- Add in oats, rest of cinnamon, and salt to the saucepan. Cook at a low simmer for 15-18 minutes, stirring occasionally, until water is absorbed and oats are done.
- Remove from heat. Mix in maple syrup and vanilla extract.
- Serve in bowls, topping with more maple syrup, a splash of almond milk, and/or cinnamon and sugar, if desired.
Notes
Store rest in an airtight container in the fridge and consume within a few days.
